Let the finger pointing begin!
That's right it already has started. While Republicans are blaming the mayor of New Orleans and the Gov. of Louisianna, the Democrats are doing the same to Bush and FEMA. First things first. There is, IMHO, plenty of blame for all of those in charge at every level. I must say atleast Bush did declare it a state of emergency several days in advance of the storm but I was furious when I saw him say that the director of FEMA was doing a great job. It seems to me that almost everybody was to busy trying to look like they were doing the right thing instead of actually doing them. Nearly 4 years after the attacks of Sept. 11th and this is the best that we can muster. I've heard reports that Emergency Responders from different states still can't communicate with each other. The ability for somebody, anybody to take command and get the situation headed in right direction is still non-existent. "Those who do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it." I think we just repeated several grades in school. It's really a shame we didn't learn anything from the last several centuries.

It still amazes me that our government can coordinate an invasion overseas led of by massive high-precision strikes but it took days to actually get things going in New Orleans.
I couldn't agree more.
Our govt can leave bodies lying in the streets but can be efficient when it comes to disarming the law-abiding populace.
